Milwaukee International Airport
General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is a medium-hub airport owned and operated by Milwaukee County. Mitchell's 14 airlines offer roughly 230 daily departures (plus 230 daily arrivals). Approximately 90 cities are served nonstop or direct from Mitchell International. It is the largest airport in Wisconsin. Please note that the airport's terminal building is open 24 hours per day, however, airline ticket counters are not open 24 hours.
Most airlines advise that you arrive an hour-and-a half to two hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. The front drives are available for active loading and unloading. Unattended vehicles on the front drives will be towed immediately. If you have carry-on baggage only AND a boarding pass, you may proceed through the security checkpoint to the gate. Ask your airline if it has curbside check-in. Otherwise, you must check in at the airline ticket counter. Carry-ons are limited to one bag and one personal item (purse, briefcase, etc.) per passenger. Check with your airline about further carry-on restrictions. Sharp items in your carry-on luggage (scissors, nail files, Swiss Army knives, etc.) will be confiscated at the security checkpoint. Storage lockers are no longer available at the Airport. Only ticketed passengers are allowed past concourse security checkpoints. Passengers may be met at the entrance to the concourse or in the Baggage Claim lobby.
