Detroit Metropolitan Airport
For more than a decade, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport has been implementing a $2 billion Capital Improvement Program with a single goal in mind - to transform Detroit Metro into one of the finest airports in the world.
Steadily, that vision has been taking shape. And today, after years of planning, design and construction, the "new" Metro Airport has become a reality.
On February 24, 2002, the new 97-gate Edward H. McNamara Terminal opened to the public. This new state-of-the-art facility serves Northwest Airlines and their partner airlines. Designed with customer convenience in mind, the new terminal provides passengers and visitors with fast, efficient service and many new amenities.
