Boston's Logan International Airport is the nation's eighteenth busiest airport and the world's thirty-fourth busiest airport based on passenger volume. The airfield is comprised of five runways, fourteen miles of taxiway, and 237 acres of concrete and asphalt apron. Logan Airport has five passenger terminals each with its own ticketing, baggage claim, and ground transportation facilities. There are eighty-four gate positions at Logan which are available for both scheduled and non-scheduled service. A city within a city, Logan International Airport has its own State Police Troop, Fire-Rescue Unit and non-denominational chapel. As it builds to accommodate future air travel, Logan continues to provide for the transportation needs of New England and the world.
